It’s already the middle of the week, and for some of us, those good intentions and promises we made to ourselves on Sunday are becoming a distant memory. They’re getting lost among the juggling balls of work, family, and life in general. 🤹🏾♀
Don’t worry! It’s perfectly normal to have a wobble, and there’s still every opportunity to get back on track.
In fact, these ‘Slip Ups’ are so common, psychologists have come up with a model to explain it. Even 40 years on, it’s still widely used to explain what happens when we have a Slip Up. In this post, we’ve included a diagram about it, from our upcoming blog post. Have a look 👇🏽 and see what you make of it.

It may seem like a never ending cycle of doing well, then falling off the wagon. However, each time you Slip Up, the cycle is much quicker and easier to get through to achieve maintenance. It’s a bit like learning to ride a bike 🚲. You may fall off, but you brush yourself off, get back on the saddle, and keep on pedalling until it gets easier.
We like to remind our clients (and ourselves) that life gets in the way and may have an unexpected impact on what we had planned to do that week. And that’s ok. There’s no point punishing yourself for things you haven’t done. It’s about making simple changes, one step at a time.⚖
